The first few days and weeks for a new tattoo are probably the most important of its life.
Make sure you care for it properly! Below is the healing procedure and do's and dont's we recommend. Because each individual is different, this may not always be best recommendation for each person. We recommend you follow the advice of your tattoo artist or seek the advice of a doctor before having a tattoo.

Leave the dressing on until you get home. Wash your hands and remove the dressing gently, and wash tattoo with unscented soap and warm water. Do not soak tattoo in water!
Then pat tattoo dry with a clean soft towel and let air dry for about 10 minutes.
Now wash your hands again and apply a thin coat of antiseptic cream*
    * We highly recommend Bepanthen nappy rash cream ...
infact use nothing but Bepanthen!!! (its the best!)
Do not over apply! Just a thin coat until your tattoo is shiny.
Over application is the main problem people have when healing.
You don't need much! Do not re-bandage!

Follow these instructions 2-3 times per day.
Keep Tattoo covered at all times with clean cotton clothing. If in a place where clothing will rub, cover with a paper towel (but only if the tattoo is dry). Do not use cling film or dressings.
If anything sticks to the Tattoo, soak off with warm water. Do not soak in water E.G. in the bath for long periods or go swimming in the sea or pool. Also avoid dust and oil, and cover when preparing food.

On or about the 5th day you will begin to see your skin getting flaky and peeling. This is normal.
After 2 weeks or once all scabbing has gone, begin applying sunscreen daily to preserve your colour and keep it looking bright. we do not recommend the "specialty" sunscreens and "colour rejuvenators" marketed for tattoos. These are a total waste of money. Go get a cheap bottle of SPF 45+ and use it daily!
Avoid alcohol before having the Tattoo and during the healing process.

Some final DO's and DONT's
• Go swimming, or soak in a hot tub or bath.
• Use hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol on your tattoo.
• Pick, or scratch the tattoo (if it is itchy just lightly slap it) .
• Participate in activities that will make you sweat.

• Stay out of the sun until your tattoo has healed completely.
• Apply sun block to tattoo after it has healed whenever it is exposed to the sun to protect it from damaging ultraviolet rays, which will cause fading and discolouration.
